After suffering a defeat in battle, Robert the Bruce was forced to take refuge in a cave. While hiding there, he watched a spider building a web in the cave's entrance. The threads were ripped asunder time after time by the wind, but the spider never gave up and finally succeeded in completing the web. Inspired, Robert again sought battle, this time at Bannockburn.
